Usually I have mine in the first slot when playing melee classes and second or third when playing a caster.

For me, spammable skills go 1-2-3, medium use in 4-5, less use/long recharge/long duration in 6-7-8, res in 8 if I bring one, and all are subject to rearrangement for chaining. Elites go wherever is most appropriate depending on the build. The fact that it's the elite skill doesn't affect anything.

In my current MB+DB build Moebius is placed at 5...right after death blossom
I don't seem to "have to" put it in a place, since it's more useful for me to use them in order I think would be optimal. On my heroes though it's almost always the first slot b/c they know how to use it right...i think.

Depends on the skill itself. For example, if I was going to be using something that would be used as a "main skill" (e.g Melandrus' Shot, Cripshot, Eviscerate, WoH), I would place it in the first. Something that replaces another skill (e.g Magebane for Savage) I would replace the same slot I use Savage in (7), or say RC in place of my primary condition removal on a bar without RC.
Although when you want to swap your configuration you find you're too attached to the one you previously used if it was long term.

Depends.
If it's an attack/spell that I use often: 2, since my most-used skill is always 2.
Examples: Barrage
If it's something that I need to activate/keep up every so often: 1.
Examples: Warrior's Endurance
Usually, my bar is something like this:
1: Interrupt, Stance
2: Attack Skill
3: Attack Skill, Interrupt
4: Attack Skill, Stance, Touch Skill
5: Attack Skill, Stance, Other
6: Self-Heal, Enchantment
7: Self-Heal, Enchantment
8: Res Signet, Enchantment

Don't use an elite on me ele personally. Mending + flare really are in my top two spots. If I need moar dmg you kno for HM, I throw in MS and mark of rodgort and just watch enemies crumble.
Now obviously I'd be using discordway w/a build like this, because discord can make even this garbage build awesome lol. But if I were to throw an elite in here (I hear echo's good, too bad i can't combine it w/mending ><) it'd probably be at slot #1, cuz it's so perty

echo goes on 2, arcane echo on 1. flare on 3. pwn
it depends on the build i'm using. elemental attunement on 8. focus anger on 7, moebius strike on 3, mind blast on 1...
i usually put the spammable skill on 2, because it requires the least finger movement.

It's usually third from the end for me. Don't know why. Just where I like it. I think it's because that's where I put my cap sig, and I just got used to the Elites spawning there.

again, i think it depends on the skill. i'm an ele, alot of the time i have the elite elemantal attunemant on me and things like enchants i always have on the right hand side, either 7 or 8. but when using an SF build that elite always goes on 1... anything thats spammable as lft as poss any 'upkeeps' on the right.
my two cents

Depends on the elite
I organize my bar by their use, so if it's an attack it'll be in slot 1-3 etc

a skill's elite status never had any affect on where it went on my skillbar...
it only matters how it is used. typically, attack skills go in slot 2-5. prepatarions, stances, or attunements go in slot 1 (or 6-7 if multiple stances &/or any blocks. res, or rarely used skills go in slot 8.

-If it's spammable, it goes on slot 1.
-If it's part of a chain (dagger chain or permasin skills) it goes on the appropriate slot in that chain. (e.g. [1: Deadly Paradox, 2: Arcane Echo, 3: Shadow Form])
-If it's a long lasting or long recharge 'passive' skill then it will most likely go on 7 as slot 8 is usually some sort of res.

I prefer to place my Water Trident up the enemies bum bum. Or, if I'm a monk, I like to place a Life Sheath on the crotch of my allies to prevent them from getting hacked off with a Critical Chop.

Depends on the skill and the bar I use it in.
I usually play with 1-4 for the most-used skills and when the elite isn't used often or has long cooldown time there is no reason to put it there for me.

Depends. Purely depends on the Elite itself.
Usually organise my bar like this;
[Stances][Attack skills][Utility & Self-Heal (If Derv'ing with enchants, longest lasting enchant at the end, working to the front)][Ress Signet]

Depends on the build, I pretty much always have offensive skills on the left and defensive on the right.
